Is it cringe or based to annotate one's theology books?

Bump.
I feel like I am desecrating the book when I write it in.
I feel utter disgust when I see prottie stuff like pic related, but I'm not sure if this disgust is warranted for theology books.

How do I take notes when studying Holy Scripture?

If you don't want to write on the book itself couldn't you just use a notebook and write the chapter & verse?
I went to a Catholic school and in our religion class we would often underline things or write notes on these pocket bibles we had, so i don't think there's anything wrong with it desu. Expecially since the teacher was super religious

That pic is based. That person has probably read the bible more times than your average priest.
