I have seen the top 100 books in the pinned pages and charts, I have read some of those novels and I am continuing now with another one.

The thing is that I don't want to just read novels all the time, or tales, or anthologies of short stories for that matter, I want to have the booksmarts and learn about everything I can, philosophy, psychology, politics, history, software, music theory, etc. As much as books allow me to.

Is there any top 100 of non fiction books regarding all kinds of knowledge? Or is non fiction grouped in a different manner? I want to learn everything that would be essential for me.

I remember that there was this character in a novel where he says that most important knowledge could be resummed in 130 books if they are chosen well, has this theory ever been applied? If not, why so? What books do you recommend to start with each category and field?

The idea is stupid. Just read more and you'll figure out what interests you and what you need to read. Learning is actually more fun and effective when it isn't structured like you want.

Literature used to be general humanistic reading, not just fiction. The How to Read a Book book has a comprehensive reading list

Other than that, just find any college intro text and follow the resources
