in the age of e-books and PDFs, physical books have been rendered almost completely obsolete. Obviously, if I'm going to pay for a physical book nowadays, at the very least it can have a nice cover

Reading is dead because of narcissistic faggots obsessing over the tactility and aesthetics of their books and not the words therein. I will say, however, that this cover is pretty good. You could probably frame this picture with the book title included as a legitimate work of art, it really is a good combo.

Being an "epic intellectual that doesn't care about the aesthetics" is just as much an aesthetic choice as the opposite, you retards. Books are nice, and they feel nice to hold in your hand. Let a nigga enjoy things

I found the perfect painting for The Crossing: a lone wolf, alone at night in a snowy forest; I feel like it perfectly captures the tone and mood of the first part of the book, but the painting itself is not long enough to fill the bottom part of the cover; I bet someone with better photoshop skills than I could fix it by cutting off the bottom and moving it down so it does fill it

GET BETTER MATERIAL NEW YORKER READING FAGGOT

Anon, I presume you have no knowledge whatsoever of the history of books, or of the scrolls and other forms of “books” that were used before the Codex form of book became dominant in Europe and the Middle East and other places.
While some early Bibles are plain(ie. Lacking decoration) the early official copies were still handwritten on animal vellum, and dyed purple( incredibly expensive at the time), and for a millennia afterwards.
The oldest manuscript of Virgil’s Aeneid, the “ Vergilius Vaticanus” is heavily illuminated with painting of scenes from the book.
Books remained being illuminated with artwork up thru the invention of the printing press, and Gutenberg, even had instruction books for how his printed bibles should be decorated and illuminated.
Modern hardbacks with a decorated dust jacket, and cheap cloth covers maybe nice, but are also far from what was expected from past books, and would basically be considered the highly puritanical version of book.
