Greco-roman civilization is different from Western civilization. What's causing its downfall? Read Spengler.

Id say some time between 1700-1912.
I would wager maybe 1800s or thereabouts.

>> No.19093880

The decline is caused by many things. You could say Romanticism or Impressionism was the start. Postmodernism and Cultural Marxism were the biggest blows. The internet and capitalism.

Not Western. That was a posterior civilization.

That's when it began yes. The meaninglessness of actual war in face of an object (atom bomb) that would make any kind of actual fight between soldiers look like a LARP definitely plays a role, yes

THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS: «WESTERN CIVILIZATION», NOR: «WESTERN CULTURE»; THESE SPURIOUS TERMS ARE, RESPECTIVELY, INAPTRONYMS FOR: «PROTESTANTSPHERE», AND: «PROTESTANT MORES».

INSTEAD OF AN IMAGE DEPICTING A STATUE OF OCTAVIVS AVGVSTVS YOU SHOULD HAVE ATTACHED ONE DEPICTING MARTIN LUTHER, OR JOHN CALVIN.

THE PROTESTANTSPHERE REACHED ITS VILE CVLMEN IN THE SECOND THIRD OF XX CENTURY; IT IS DECAYING DUE TO THE VILENESS OF ITS OWN PRINCIPLES; IT WAS BUILT ON THE FOUNDATIONS OF ITS OWN FILTH; SOME CLAIM THAT IT IS DECAYING DUE TO POSTMODERNISM, MODERNISM, ROMANTICISM, ILLUSTRISM, BUT THESE ARE ALL INTRINSICAL PHASES OF ITS HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT, NOT CORRUPTOGENOUS FACTORS EXTRINSICAL TO IT.

The peak of all civilization is the present moment. Its downfall will be the inevitable eco-castrophe that will destroy it. This is a good thing.

There is a book/essay on this, specifically on why empires fall, what are the signs it will fall and so on.

The Fate of Empires and Search for Survival - John Bagot Glubb. It's only 52 pages and you can find it online, I have never seen a physical copy being sold (if anyone sees one, please let me know).

The peak of Western civilization was.... I dunno bro. I have this idea that the "Western Golden Age" was from the 1410s to 1945 AD. There were certainly hard times in that timespan, and Western greatness outside of it, but from 1492 to 1945 the West was far and away the greatest civilization in the world, and technologically no one came close. The 1410s was when the Age of Discovery began in Portugal and Spain. 1945 was when the West lay in ruins and the rest of the world caught up, leading to decolonization and the end of Western hegemony. Maybe you could say 1999 instead of 1945, because the Western empires survived de jure until Portugal handed Macau over to China.

Do I feel bad about it? Not really. I don't see myself as a Westerner, The West arose from the ashes of the Late Bronze Age collapse and the fall of the Ancient Near East civilization. In the same way, I was born here and now to be the founder of a new civilization, the Homer to the next great civilization. I do mourn the West, I do wish that it didn't die. But it did die, and we must move forward.

Just woundering. if we are at point x. and there is, lets say, 7 more or less distinct points before point x, wouldnt it be likely that one of those other 7 would have arelitive "greatness" in some capacity related to ours? Unless greatness is a strict function of the linear progression of time, there is probability that a "high point", in after the fact consideration was there.
