There is literally, unironically nothing wrong with this.

>the waste of time
lazy, garbage writing for plebeian low-wits.
jordan's yellowing paperbacks belong in the dustbin of schlock late-20th c genre fiction.

it shouldn't even be possible to count that many instances of a single phrase appearing over and over again in a single work

Autismo here. This stuff is far from spontaneous to me. Should I follow this in terms of "body language"?

No. It tries to be picturesque, but due to its repetition fails miserably. At the very least you should regularly switch out the words with synonyms.

They're not "repeated phrases", they're repeated actions from character with their own quiddities

Actions in books are described by phrases. Maybe you'll notice that next time you pick one ups

your midwittery isn't my problem. If you use the same phrase so many times in your books that you can graph them in an excel spreadsheet, then you're either a retard or a genius. methinks it's the former.

haha okay buddy. Let me explain it to you as if you had autism, because clearly you do: the term "repeated" describes a state wherein a certain quality or attribute appears multiple times. If I tell someone to do a certain thing multiple times, then we say that I have told him that "repeatedly". Do you understand now what "repeated" means?
Now let's move on to the term "phrase". A phrase is a linguistic term that denotes a specific unit of meaning, constituting multiple words. Now, when the words "braids tugged" appear multiple times within a single work, then we can surely observe that the phrase mentioned above is repeated. Hence, repeated phrase. Or in other words: kill yourself you pathetic waste of space
