Happy Birthday old NIKKA

Dante was a soldier as well and saw some shit. A lot of his descriptions of torture and hell remind me of Campaldino. Much of the Guelph and Ghibelline conflict makes it way into his writing generally. But I am sure /lit already knows this

I always think of him when writing my own fanfics be it on SCP objects or Homestuck smut. The worst part is always the begining.

I read him when I was 16 and attribute my obsession with the sacred to him (and perhaps a lack of sex).

Greatest epic poet who ever lived. RIP good buddy.

I think the simultaneous arrival of Beatrice and disappearance of Virgil in Canto XXX of Purgatorio is the most powerful moment in western literature.

Without him we would never have been blessed with this book. Since much of it retells the story of The Divine Comedy in modern times.

When I was 14 I was obsessed with Divine Comedy, particularly Inferno. I collected images related to Dante's Inferno, including this 2010 God of War ripoff on my hard drive. I got into trouble because the school coordinator (whom I disliked) thought it wasn't a suitable game for kids. Didn't bother to explain it and just said I've never even played the game because I thought she would never believe that 8th grader would be interested in 14th-century Christian epic.

Reminder that the Purgatorio is the true best canticle.
