1. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS: «HUMANITY».

2. CONSCIOUSNESS IS THE FACULTY THAT DERIVES FROM THE POTENCY OF SAPIENCE; IT WORKS BY COGITATION OF SENSIBLE, INTELLIGIBLE, AND AFFECTIVE, STIMVLI; IT IS THE DISCURSIVE AGENCY OF THE MIND.

More than half of humanity still believes in semitic desert tales, and the other half is busy exploring the depths of sexual degeneracy and accomodating brown proto-humans, I'd imagine it's a pretty serious impediment to progress

As true as this is, you only need a handful of geniuses to vastly accelerate progress, as seen in the enlightenment when the peasantry couldn’t even read or write

The desert tales are about understanding consciousness and how it relates to human created societies. Most people do not see the connection because they are not religious scholars.

Deluded. The enlightenment accelerated human rationality, which will be our undoing.

you literally said nothing that in any way even begins to explain consciousness, god I hate you you are genuinely one of the worst people on this board

>> No.19034109

Idealism just takes consciousness as the fundamental part of reality, and so there's no possibility of explanation there.
Materialism is a giant epistemological failure.

“ The object is phenomenal and has no substance in itself; the subject is noumenal, and hence its own substance and the substance of the object as well” This is where a lot of the issues come from.

Consciousness is absolutely nothing. Its just a void for an object to occupy. Consciousness is always consciousness of an object, and that object gives to consciousness its entire being and essence. What is "consciousness of a pain" other than a pain? What is "consciousness of a sight" other than that sight?

We are what, less than 600 generations since the earliest start of civilization (and about 200 from the real start, desu)?
Is it really that surprising we haven't figured the hardest parts yet?

>> No.19034865

>>19034573
Yes. Though if you don’t accept some form of dualism, I don’t see any real options left but panpsychism, which I don’t find very sensible, as to me consciousness seems to need very specific donations and a very high degree of complexity to exist, as shown by how easily consciousness can be stopped (eg. death, sleep, drugs, fainting) and how complex of a biological structure a zygote has to develop into in order to be an organism with consciousness. Though I would be interested if you have an alternative perspective on this.

It's possible to be conscious during dreamless sleep if you're skilled enough in certain meditation techniques. In these instances there are no objects to be aware of. Nothing except awareness being aware of itself..

Once you admit the independent existence of the mind, I don't see a reason to continue to posit the physical world which is now extraneous. All 'physical' laws can be satisfactorily explained as the result of forced Intelligibility.

What does this "consciousness" consist of? What sensation is felt? If no sensation is felt, why isn't it the same as unconsciousness?

>> No.19035183

consciousness is just sense mixed with thought. the only reason consciousness seems complex is that it is self-feeding.
