Did the person who make this actually read Psychological Types? It's not all that different: all MBTI really does is double Jung's 8 psychological types by adding an extra function. People like to bash on MBTI and fawn over Jung because of their respective reputations, but if you have a problem with the meanings of the I/E binary or the N/S/T/F quaternity then you have a problem with Jung, because that is what Psychological Types is about. I personally find both Jung and MBTI useful despite how wishy-washy they are. They will make STEMfags seethe because they don't describe discrete, easily categorisable phenomena but polarities or spectrums of the human personality and experience. But that is precisely the point: human personality can't be pinned down exactly, only roughly associated with ends of a polarity via a typology. Critiquing MBTI by pointing out that human beings can't be rigidly dichotomised is very superficial. Both the people who use Myers-Briggs and Jung understand that: introversion/extro(a)version are a spectrum, not distinct. I do have problems with Myers-Briggs as a test, and I think that probably the Big Five is a much better way of classifying personalities, but people should not claim that Jung got it right and Myers-Briggs didn't because that's just superficial, ill-founded snobbery.

How do you know what your inferior functions are that you need to develop unless you know your dominant one, ie. your personality type?

>> No.19034350

>>19034304
To elaborate on this: Jung's 'Feeling' is derived from the German 'Fühlen' and is understood as a judgement type. To feel something is the same as to judge something. Jung always stated that the types should be understood as superficial coordination points for practical use in therapy. The types are never static and change in your life. The irrational (intuition, sensation) and rational (feeling, thinking) types and the two attitudes (introversion and extraversion) are to be understood as a spectrum. No one is a full 'introvert' or a full 'feeling type' unless you're literally insane. If you're an intuitive type, let's say, then you should develop your opposite type (sensation) to balance your psyche. Also in my experience many people identify themselves as introverts when they're not. Introversion is the orientation towards the inner objects (subjective experience) whereas extraversion is the orientation towards the external world. If you like to decorate your room for example, you're probably an extravert as your environment is very important for you. Introversion/extraversion have absolutely nothing to do with social skills or needs.

MBTI is a Reddit tier clusterfuck for people who lack an identity and cling on to some non-sensical pop-psych theory to understand their behaviour better. It's literally the same as horoscopes as women are often weak and lack identity too.

Read his personal types book. He goes into each type in detail. But my point still stands that he never advocated for people to identify with a personal type.

The problem with comparing MBTI to Astrology is that one is attempting to peg you into a specific type through your answers to questions that are designed to identify traits within you, while astrology is completely random since it's solely based on birthday. The people who make these direct comparisons just come off like retards to me because there's obviously a difference between the two, even if the predictions look the same on a page.
