what the fuck was his problem? constantly rambling on about the same stuff and acting like nothing matters.

"oh your son is going to die? well it doesn't matter because it's natural to die. just as grain might be reaped"

what the fuck? how are these two things the same.

start with the greeks - no thanks after this

He was a roman though and stoicism isn't even the starting point of philosophy, it's more around late ancient greek period. If you get filtered by something so simple, philosophy is going to be a huge challenge for you.

But also, Aurelius takes stoicism to some kind of extreme. You can apply the same principles, just not to the same degree.

You got filtered hard. He doesn’t say nor act like nothing matters. He repeatedly stated his divine duty to Rome, her people, and her gods / Providence. Stoicism is about overcoming your problems, Epicureanism is about being unaffected by them, as Seneca says.

He did take it to an extreme, then again, that doesn't mean that he always went full retard.
The dead kid analogy he does usually harbors dislike for him, which is literally the entire point of philosophy, you can THINK opposed to what someone says, you don't have to swallow it up as if it's an absolute truth.

You will understand when you get older and have to maintain relationships and deal with many different people.

Maybe if he wasn't such a stoic retard he would have chosen a proper heir and the Roman empire wouldn't have collapsed.

He had two heirs that he wanted to rule jointly, because he know the stupid civil war that would happen should someone not from his bloodline be picked over his stupid as son, whom he trained and tutored, but whom also was surrounded by enablers and shit influences that molded him more than his father did. Marcus had the soul to live and die as a philosopher king, Commodus had the soul of frat boy and acted accordingly.
