Is this book worth a read? I'm afraid that I'll regret buying it since my budget is kinda tight. If it isn't worth it suggest me another book.

Harari nails it when they call out the agricultural revolution for increasing human suffering. I don't know about the rest of the book, I only read parts because my sister paid me to do her homework.

He says the fact that women and man generally work in similar roles across the world isn't proof that it is natural or genetic.
He also says everything is chemical but he has no proof yet.

It's 200 pages of explaining why and how humans form groups larger than a few dozen people and the rest is a hurried summary of all of human history. If you know virtually nothing of these topics it's worth reading I guess. The first part is actually decent, if a bit one sided in this debate of where culture comes from.

Most people here will throw stone at you for reading but to be fair it is a nice way of starting into the subject if you are near-oblivious to it, plus the colloquial language used is nice for retards who can't understand proper. I used to read it aloud to practice my English before taking a C2 certificate and that was a good use I got out of it.
Basically it should have been called "Anthropology for dummies", treat it like that.

No it isn’t. It’s materialism taken to its homosexual extreme. Read Logos Rising by E. Michael Jones or even Thomas Aquinas to get a better understanding of your existence.

i dont think harari ever wanted to make the impression that he approves of anything that happened after agricultural revolution, hes just explaining what he believes happened and why (and what will happen and why in homo deus, also a good book)

Homo Deus is worth reading, Homo-Sapiens is only worth reading to see if you agree with the way he structures his ideas, arguments, and world view before reading Deus.

to elaborate, this is because most people have a decent understanding of human history, and most of his arguments you would have heard before or at least have been exposed to. Deus is all about the future, and therefor pure conjecture.

If I didn't have better things to do I'd write a pop sci book based on crap like this and God Delusion, not necessarily atheist, theist "thinkers" of the same level can be included, cherry pick only those parts the authors get completely wrong, and still give "a broad view of human history".

The first half of the book was good, had some interesting ideas like explaining about how the transition to farming from hunter-gathering led to greed, worry etc, and also how society depends upon humans believing certain ideas like companies or currency. I didn’t bother reading the second half of the book, iirc around then the author starts to impose his own views which I didn’t care for.
