What's some of /lit/ favourite gritty. From Noires to Dystopias, what are some books with broken people getting through life.

Reading now. Grittiest book I have ever read, but it is also just a really good book.

Love Dead + Robots turned me onto this short story Pop Squad which is the name of the episode that adapts it. Perfectly fitting the grim and dark aforementioned. To stop over population specific police have to kill children. The protagonist feels the weight of these actions all too much with his tired and dead eyes.
Amazing episode and great short story (episode was better though imo)
