I like Gardner as a person. You gotta make your bread somehow, and he's found a way. But seriously, his meming has ruined this board.

It's so dark and disturbing, exploring many subversive themes which are only for mature readers. You shouldn't read these books ever unless you are sure that you can handle them because they are very intense, and frightening. Look out Steven King F Gardner is the new Steven King.

I Am Legend because it tapped into my loneliness and social isolation
Songs Of A Dead Dreamer and Grimscribe by Thomas Ligotti made me uncomfortable and the language used for descriptions was intoxicating at times
The Sluts by Dennis Cooper disturbed me to my core. One moment made me cross my legs in discomfort another made me put the book down and go "ah fuck..." in disheartenment.

Out of the Aeons is the only Lovecraft story I genuinely like (maybe also some of Dream cycle stuff, but to a lesser extent). It’s criminally underrated.

I enjoy Dracula. There's something cozy about the way all the characters join together against a common foe.
