does philosophers getting "refuted" get consigned to the dust-bin of history? or what? is this just choosing a different movie to watch?

why do you think philosophy is a contest about "getting it right"? Take what you find useful and leave the rest

Just so, Socrates!

I feel bad for people like this. People that are just desperate for anything to believe in. The only time philosophy has been useful to me has been in helping me develop my own beliefs to their fullness. Philosophy should be a midwife to the reader's intellectual development like Socrates said. Just believing what some old dude said is the ultimate mind cuck.

I blame the Socratic dialogues for fostering this gay-ass mentality.

The irony is that Socrates "won" the intellectual contests of his time by shitposting so hard they had to kill him.

Nietzche believed every philosophy is a personal interpretation of the forces at play in man. Plato believed that there was an ultimate truth common to all and that the goal of philosophy is to be faithful to the universal truth. At the end of the day, every philosopher provides a definition of what philosophy is. That's the whole point of philosophy: to define philosophy.

Why is this face so affecting? It reminds me of my childhood, I think I'm going insane. I can't look away.
