I should have been British shut in from grey skies and disused industrial zones reading till I overflowed with words to write. Instead I am an American that shut myself in from blue skies and rolling fields and felt guilty for it

I find cold, grey weather and old industrial areas to be the peak of comfiness desu. Even as a little kid I was fascinated by them, and liked when we drove in those areas.

I love them too, as a Brit. Having said that, I find that these colder forms of comfiness don't last. You don't realise how negatively spending a long time in that sort of environment affects you subconsciously. The initial thrill of the aesthetic gives way to a basic need for vitamin d or whatever. So these aren't places to live as much as visit
