The books in the past were relevant to their experience. We can learn from them but we never truly understand and experience the emotions in their writing. Reading something from our time is not only more beneficial but I can understand the author on a more personal level.

Sorry dude, reading about the Phenomolgoy of spirit or Aristotle's thoughts on the art of poetry and rhetoric isn't exactly relevant to our era.
