I have a background in general topology and a bit of wikipedia skimming about algebraic topology under my belt, so feel free to get technical, if you wish. In particular, I like the proposition-proof-example style, too much of commentary distracts me - does it meet this description?

I have a genuine question: when you think of your own IQ, do you value it only in relation to others in a competitive, superiority-minded way? Or do you value it as a means to discerning truth? How do you cope with the fact that, despite even a high IQ, the vast majority of possible realizations are likely beyond your grasp?

I'm seriously convinced any serious math book does that.

The absolute state of /lit/.

In any case, I have found it and it looks exactly like what I was looking for. So thanks anyway, I guess.

In all seriousness I seriously consider it a serious possibility deserving a serious discussion with serious people involved.

I should value it in the latter manner, as the former isn't helpful except for certain situations and makes you needlessly emotional.

I think so too. I know it's foolish, but I become enraged when I see people insulting each other's intelligence. None of us were given a choice with respect to our natural abilities. We have a responsibility to elevate both ourselves and our fellow man, and to see them as brothers rather than inferiors.

I assess it as a token of how fast you can understand some stuff. That's it, really. Given enough time virtually everyone can reach the same "conclusions" or at least make way to a well thought solution or understanding.

I feel frustrated at how slow I sometimes am to arrive at such realizations. how can I learn to accept this and stop coveting the minds of my betters?

>> No.18965721

I think it is very difficult to provide any help without knowing more about why you are really labeling that frustration. Is it shame? Guilt? Expectation? Where that insecurity really is coming from needs to be explore throughly. It could really be as simple as lack of sleep/good diet/proper study methods or as hard as trauma. Personally, CBT is really helping me to cope with something like that by using writing and reframing to adjust my views when it comes to negative thinking. There are plenty of books, anon. I encourage you to seek your betterment.
