Shouldn't it be "I couldn't care less"?

Arguably, the expression "I could care less" is even more effective than the 'proper' form of the idiom, adding a smattering of vain sacrasm on top of the established linguistic conduct, intensifying the idea of not caring. The response to such a phrase, whichever it may be, would sound rhetorical defeat; to point out that the idiom was used incorrectly is to appear pathetically pedantic.
