Why does everyone from the 18th century seem to be either chubby or outright fat?
I get that only the upper class sat for portraits regularly, but it's still weird.

Dining became a big thing for networking. Before things like state dinners usually only involved the court, but holding court at a restaurant as a newly rich bourgeoisie became a thing for non-royalty as money began to come from industry.

Fat people cannot open their chakras.
Fat people have higher stress levels.
Fat people achieve less.
Fat people have lower self esteem.
Fat people are spiritually gross as physically because corpus sana mens sana.
Fat people are puppets to their impulses.
Fat people cannot fathom owning their impulses.
Fat people do not process emotion like skilled athletes do.
Fat people cannot feel emotion in their bodies with physical intelligence.

Sorry, fatties. Sorry fatties indeed.

David Hume was a true character. Some speculate that he had tourettes syndrome. While he is more known for being the "jolly fat man" who shared his wealth with others and enjoyed feasts and such like, he was also known for his odd, often unusual tics and utterances. He was also unusually tall and ungaily, stating the problem of induction and stuffing a pheasant's pie in his mouth and being smarter than everyone else almost in the same breath. Much of this is derived from Samuel Johnson's classic biography of Hume which I haven't read.

i don't respect fat people. can't think of a single fat person in my house of favorites. fat people always have awful opinions.
if you're fat either you're lazy or you're ignorant, neither of which are indicators of intelligence. not to say you can't learn from anyone but i do see being fat as a red flag for sure.
