How do you guys find the time/energy to read?
I work from 2pm until midnight and before and after work I just feel completely drained and can't do anything.
How do I find the will to power through it and read more?

I don't and just switch to watching TV shows instead.

i'm generally against open borders but i can't fault anyone from the balkans or places that are economically broken in a similar way who jumps ship. my ex was from the region and the situation of folks her age back home is just beyond fucked. and as far as immigrants go i'd prefer someone from say ex-yugoslavia over some haji any day of the week. it's just a much closer fit culture wise. you can make 1500 euros a month with these hours (assuming 50 hrs a week) in some shitty security job. same crap i used to do. granted cost of living will be higher but if you find a cheap place to live and are frugal, you can live off 500-700 euros a month quite comfortably and save the rest. (vienna)

as far as the reading goes, as in anything, a little effort every day will add up. start with something you can handle, read on the train or maybe a chapter in the morning, or before going to sleep. find a way to regain your enjoyment of it, once you fix that the rest will come easy. people who are drained from work or school will yet play video games or masturbate or yes, even read, into the wee hours of the morning because as tired as you are if you love doing it, you will. try to be disciplined but for gods sake don't beat yourself up if you miss a day or fall short of some sort of arbitrary standard, just get into a flow. obviously your life is hard enough, you can cut yourself some slack, it's not like being extra hard on yourself will yield better results, anyways, you'll just be more unproductive AND more miserable, there's no point to it.

i also find that work gets just that much more bearable if you did something you enjoyed, for yourself, in the free time you have. it's a feedback loop. so that's something to look forward to.

good luck yugofriend

can't you do a small internet freelance gig and change the currency so you can get better income? like copywriting or even coding? i'm not from the balkans, but i am a thirdworlder and it's what many people here have figured out. the median wage in this country is less than 200 dollars, so that alternative blows most job opportunities out of the water. granted, it can be quite shitty to hunt for services to fulfill online, but it's an option nonetheless.
if you really can't do it, then immigrate to a country with an even lower standard of living. seriously, just go to kyrgyzstan and take the risk. it beats suicide, i 100% guarantee it.

Not exactly, it was more in the marketing space but not the fluffy kind of marketing.
I neeted for a long time with small gigs, then I had this good opportunity but had become too lazy to work hard for a few weeks to cement my dream gig.

How good does your German have to be in order to live/work in Österreich (Wien)?

>> No.18906739

>>18906605
depends entirely on what you want to do. in everyday life you can easily get by with english, most people have at least a basic command, and the younger generation is generally fluent in it. it's certainly not like france where people are often incapable or unwilling to communicate in english. finding an apartment or dealing with the magistracy (getting your papers etc) will obviously be more difficult but doable, and if you find yourself a friend / colleague who speaks german plus your language (or just english) you can rely on them for help, bada bing you're golden

with work it'll depend on the line of work and the languages you speak. there's tech companies where the office language is english, construction sites where everyone speaks croatian, etc. so you can get by entirely without german, in theory. basic retail jobs, security, logistics etc you can get by with low B level german so long as there isn't too much customer contact. the better your german is the more options you'll have, and it'll spare you frustrations in everyday life and open up more possibilities in meeting people and doing shit around the city generally, but you can pick it up as you go along.
