Flowers of Evil. It tackles pseudo-intellectualism and is about a guy essentially coming to terms with being ordinary.

One, Isn’t manga on /a/? And two, it’s Ulysses, not an original manga you retard, I wanted /lit/ manga, as in /lit/core that had been adapted into manga, I probably should’ve elaborated on that, but long story short, I find it amusing. So unfortunately most people in this thread were giving me recommendations for things I probably won’t read in the foreseeable future.

>Kaiji up until one-poker-hen
there is no other manga, that handles complex moral question in a form that can't be penetrated by novel. i hate that every fag in mal can't appreciate it. it boils down to is this good game, or not good game for them.

>Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa
Maybe this is just my love for fukumoto poetic sense, no manga i can think of could top his poetic rambling

>Planetes
Ok, i lied, maybe there is one manga, that could top those poetic rambling. I love the end of fee's character arc the most, She rambles and end it with unfinished "I" and then panel about holding adopted dog which warms my heart.

>Vinland Saga up until farmland arc
Normie pick, i guess. but, let's see if the last arc would redeem this series.

>Junji Ito when it's good
for the same reason, lovecraft is /lit

>Vagabond
other normie pick, but since musashi is one of the great japanese novel. i find that takehiko inoue interpretation is as good.

>Ciguatera
romance book, with every fuck up thing happen as it's distraction.

>Mushishi
I hate to throw magical realism term, essentially make it meaningless. but that energy should be reserved for this manga

Shamelessly, i would also
picked Girl's Last Tour and Nichijou

I don't think I have found a single manga that has been able to transcend so many genre cliches and present reality as brutally as Shigurui.
I don't really think it qualifies as a "/lit/ manga" since it doesn't really explicitly reference works of literature like Psycho pass(albeit those references were often really shoehorned). On the other hand it does involve a lot of Eastern symbolism and motifs such as the concept of the tiger versus the dragon and the carp's journey to becoming a dragon.
Blade of immortal was also a very splendid manga, not as serious in tone or presentation but still excellent.
