He's old, obese and generally looks unhealthy, and he's in the process of writing his lengthiest and most complex book yet, and then he plans to write another book after that. At 72 years of age, I think he'll sooner drop dead than finish it, and I think he's ready to call it quits, and I don't judge him for that, but he knows that every normie would absolutely lose their minds and shit on him.

It must be a strange feeling to see your ending (because let's not delude ourselves, the broad strokes of show's ending is still what GRRM has planned for the books) delivered in such a poor and rushed way.

Now you know you have to write the same thing, with minor changes here and there, but the same overall ending (arya kills big bad, jon kills dany, bran is king, etc.), but you can see everyone hated it on TV, and now you have to write it in a way that people will enjoy it.

It's like a journalist having to write about a trainwreck while making the families of the deceased happy.
