People forget the erudition of Luther or Calvin in the morass of methody. That’s for the right.

For the left Catholicism left space for underground cryptoanabaptism. Protestantism was brutally bourgeois.

Aesthetics, catholicism has better music, better paintings, better churches, better books and it's not even close. Also, the catholics kept the tradition of monasticism and asceticism alive and form the biggest community of ascetics in the world, which is pretty cool.

/lit/ is a slow board. it only takes a handful of anons to meme a trend into existence on /lit/. There's probably two or three more commited chantards LARPing as catholics than protestants.

Because they actually have a well-thought out scholastic tradition that involves the Greeks, and they also have an interesting history of saints.
Even if you're not Christian, there's a lot of value to find in a lot of aspects of Catholic tradition.

The aesthetics are attractive to larpers, and it's very easy for philistines to read snippets of Aquinas and think they've encountered the apex of human thought because they've never read anything else.

Protestants believe in a natural order. They think good things happen to nice people and the evil are going to hell and Africa is like that because they're dumb and need educating.
Catholics believe in the sinfulness of the world and not being judgemental.
Quite simply, Catholics will go to more fun parties and have more weird friends. They will take the guy at the bar with a weird smell and facial tattoos up on a offer to look at some puppies, because why not?
