Are E-readers worth it?

You can download like all books for free and just read them on the e-reader as opposed to having to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on physical books. Anyone have any experience with them?

i think we’ve had this thread every day for the last week
yes, it’s worth
use libgen to download, calibre if you need to convert
get a large (>10”), android-based if you anticipate needing to read pdfs
otherwise, paper white is pretty good, but some don’t like amazon
but they are very worth imo, i’ve used one for the last 3-4 years

This thread has been coming up for months, probably years. We ought to just have an e-reader geberal like the “Wrote What’s on Your Mind” threads

Oh I misread (but thank you). What one would you recommend if I wanted to read pdfs?

seems like the boox note air is the common rec here
there is an open source reader coming soonish, the pinenote, which looks rather good—if i did pdfs, i might do that one

Ouch, both expensive, but thanks for the recs

Yes they are worth it. It's also pretty nice to have your place saved at all times, even when switching between books.
