Start with the small things anon. Take this post as an example, you wanted to write what was on your mind and you did, it was probably easy. Do you want to eat something? I know I do. You should go out and make or buy whatever it is you want to eat. If you're constantly doing the things you want, then is it really so bad that you won't be able to do all of them? Your list of desires will never be empty, but the same goes for your list of accomplishments. I understand you have big things you want to do with your life, but first you have to be confident in your ability to do what you want and to be satisfied with your life even if you fail. I was like you anon, but I managed to divorce my motivation from my ability to do things, now I do what I want because I can.

The power of force never ceases to amaze me. Mao famously said that political power is spread through by barrel of a gun. Yet the truth of this statement never quite sticks until you see it happen. News of what's happening in Afghanistan brings it him. A group of armed men can completely take over a country and change history utterly through no other means than their weapons. This has always been true, this, in fact, is the story of history. Realizing that's all it takes, however, is shocking.

Sometimes I wonder what type of person I'd be if I'd never discovered this website, if I'd have arrived at the same conclusions about the world, and if I hadn't, whether that would be a good thing. On the one hand, things like the sheer amount of crime blacks commit, the degeneracy being pushed by nearly every major American institution under the guise of values like "tolerance," the fundamental differences between men and women, and the comparative stability of ethnically homogenous countries, are all pretty easy to notice. On the other hand, I never actually did notice them or acknowledge them prior to coming here and having them pointed out to me in neon lights, and even then it took a while to accept. If I had continued to go through life with that shroud pulled over my eyes, would I be less cynical, less autistic, happier? Probably not, I was all of those things before coming here, and at the very least I think I've become less autistic and more happy in the time I've been here.

My personal values have also been influenced by this place. I've grown to understand and appreciate the masculine values that are ignored completely in modern society. Taking pride in your body and being the best you can physically, being straightforward and sincere, taking pride in bearing struggles with stoicism, understanding that there are certain things you cannot and will not compromise on, and generally trying to embody "strength". For the most part, I think these values have had a positive effect on me, I feel as though I am a more complete person and that I have something fundamental that is truly worth working toward. I suspect that my overall positive experience with this site comes as a result of the boards I frequent; I've always been disgusted by /pol/ and /r9k/ and have mostly frequented /fit/, /lit/, and a few other hobby boards. I can see how browsing /pol/ and /r9k/ with regularity would absolutely fuck up a person's psyche.

If anyone actually bothers to read this, they'll probably call me a retard for taking my social views and values from here, and to be clear, I do hold views and values contrary to the general 4chan zeitgeist, I don't believe Jews run the world, I judge people as individuals when I can rather than based on their race or sex, I do think it's necessary and important to be open and kind with other people. But for better or worse, this place has certainly become a part of me, and judging by how people on this site write and act, the same holds true for most of us to some degree, whether they want to admit it or not.

At last, it all makes sense now. This experience of the afterlife -- It is basically entering the realm of imagination, a kind of nonexistance-yet-realness in a similar way to how if one were to imagine an apple in their head, the apple simultaneously exists within that person's mind, but of course not in the "real" world. I shall elaborate further.

Take the previous concept for example, and expand into it a kind of universal and shared realm of imagination, inhabited by equally invisible-yet-manifestly-capable entities that can join together or split apart at will: These things which we call in the English tongue as "Souls" or "Spirits" perhaps. Not to mention as well, their governance and orchestration by an even greater kind of conscious entity seemingly aware of itself, rather than drifting along for the ride.

I tell you this realm exists, in fact we visit it every night in our dreams, which are nothing more than explorations of one's individual imagination realms, like that of exploring one's house while the front door remains barred shut. At least, for most people. In one recent dream of mine, I had dared entered where I wasn't to, and peered outside glimpses of Heaven and Hell, that of good, positive, and wholesome eternal bliss and its corresponding domain of pure torture, anger, and evil by the damned.

A voice echoed within me that was not my time yet, and I had woken up from my slumber sweating of what I seen, for I know now what awaits me on the other side and I fear my imagination has not been the kindest as the mad creature that I am.

"Don't set goals, don't take yourself too seriously"

I'm doing that thing again where I imagine I'm giving a speech to my graduating class as the keynote speaker.

"It's time to bring it to that thing at the end of all these speeches where I give you advice for the future. Haha, I guess I'll try,"

"I distrust anyone who doesn't admit to having a vengeful fantasy about something bad that happened to them so long ago they can't put their finger on when it happened,"

Same stupid thing. In real life it was a guy who started a company that casts boats or something for fiberglass. Something I find both incredibly dull and way beyond my ability.

"So that's how I made my fortune. I don't want to sound like one of those guys on your phone who says 'Get up and do x y z every morning that is for fucking retards,"

That's how I quit smoking. That's how I learned not to disappoint all these people around me.

"In closing, remember, it was a Russian poet who said 'Anyone who knows when enough is enough always has enough,'"

A big clap. I'm not an alcoholic. I'm a successful boat maker.

"Thank you, rock on,"

I haven't seen my Uncle Tim since 2012 at least. He and my dad had a blow-off at each other at my Pop Pop's retirement party. I can only half remember now because it's been a long time and it was one of those things where you're allowed to drink underage but anyway my Pop Pop goes up by the little thing where the DJ is set. I think people were doing karaoke. The guy is 71. He's being retired by force from the same sugar factory that's employed him since the Eisenhower administration. He's at least four scotches into the night, an old Pollack who is made of right triangles and he gets up there and starts crooning "My Way" in his hoarse voice still holding a cigar that went out ten minutes ago. And Uncle Tim is yelling "Give'm the encore pa!" even though he hasn't even started yet. And my old man and my mom mom are staring up into space pretending none of this is real, it's all a bad dream or purgatory or something, but I attest to it happening now (to you my reader, or something cool like that):

"THE RECORD SHOWS...I DA DA DA...AND I DID IT--"

Well anyway Uncle Tim is here with me and my wife. He says something about how he's been away from New York for so long he's forgotten what it looks like. I guess that's plausible. He's making progress on a bottle of Cutty Sark he bought somewhere and I'm coughing and choking along behind him pretending like I don't have vodka in the freezer and nodding along to my wife like "Look, if I had a problem I'd be keeping pace with this asshole, right?" Anyway, he's still picking at the asparagus we grilled and he's talking about something I can't bring myself to care about. He apologizes to my wife and she says she's going upstairs, don't get too loud, all that stuff. And I walk up with her to kiss her goodnight. In bed she says, "How does every family have one of these guys?" and I kiss her and say "Well I'll be this guy eventually," and she does her 'haha very funny' thing she does with her eyes and I kiss her again.

But anyway, I go downstairs and my uncle Tim is standing on my porch watching cars go by on the pike, drinking his scotch from a plastic cup he took from my dishwasher and he goes,

"I'll tell you, we used to have- look over there, right past that water tower me and you dad used to go. We had fires and beers and there were girls that came up in Chevrolets and flashed their tits,"

I don't want to ruin anybody's thing they tethered themselves to but I should have said "Well you know, I can go in my basement and drink myself stupid and watch naked women all night if I want" but he would have called me a zoomer or a faggot or something. I just let him have it. He said something about when Pop Pop died to bury him somewhere but I knew that my dad has his ashes. He clapped me on the back and said I was pretty cool, then he took off for the HoJo in a Lyft. "Shit man, what I would have done if we had this in my day," he said.

What is the significance of connection itself to souls? Humans are dependent on connection as a means to justify their existence. Without a connection to others the existence of self is fleeting. Connection allows a self to define itself in relation to other. Unique individuality is an expression of self in contrast to others. It allows a soul to self-actualize, have others perceive them as they perceive themselves. It validates the self-identity to share in a collective subjective experience.
Alternatively, there were no connections. There is only Self in isolation. You would never see me and I would never see you. It is to live in ignorance of the other. Yet also it is to deny one self to other. Our existence cries out, I am here! I was here... Reality while being complete, still feels incomplete in the absence of recognition.

Working nightshift and becoming nocturnal have engrained an almost dreamlike quality to my everyday life.
Digital painting, even if it's just a basic design reference, has been fulfilling lately, albeit slowly due to the demands of life.
By this point, I believe I will only consider a philosopher rooted in the secular if I could not destroy them physically in a fight. As the only thing which prevents the law of strength from being the prime morality by which the world is governed lies in God. To deny God is to, ultimately, acknowledge that anything is permissible so long as it can be gotten away with.
Though I am not supposed to want such violence, taking a crowbar to some random scientific materialist on the take from the new religion would correctly illustrate the point

Fire of several hundred degrees + reverberations from plane crashes DOES. The WTC was well-known not to be plane-impact safe, the design firm that built the towers was under scrutiny very early on for picking a design that was aesthetically pleasing but not crash safe. That's most likely why the towers were chosen as targets in the first place.
And a random example of a completely different tower with no architectural similarities surviving a completely different disaster doesn't back up your point at all. You just look stupid.

No it isn't. When a substructure fails gravity brings the building straight down. All demolition explosives do is weaken the substructure with minimal effort, they're not magical. The impact doesn't just stop where it hits. Resonance from the impact across a steel structure is a major contributing factor to building failures. Improperly designed skyscrapers can have their substructures fail due to resonance from earthquakes, and bridges have collapsed from crowds walking in lockstep and producing shockwaves that resonate across the structure.
When the planes hit the towers the massive shockwaves would have run up and down the steel substructures and with enough buckling the whole thing would start pancaking top-to-bottom like an accordion which is exactly what happened.

>Our analysis indicated the biggest problem would be the fact that all the fuel (from the airplane) would dump into the building. There would be a horrendous fire. A lot of people would be killed, ... The building structure would still be there.

>The buildings have been investigated and found to be safe in an assumed collision with a large jet airliner (Boeing 707—DC 8) traveling at 600 miles per hour. Analysis indicates that such collision would result in only local damage which could not cause collapse or substantial damage to the building and would not endanger the lives and safety of occupants not in the immediate area of impact

-John Skilling was the head structural engineer for the World Trade Center.

>The building was designed to have a fully loaded 707 crash into it. That was the largest plane at the time. I believe that the building probably could sustain multiple impacts of jetliners because this structure is like the mosquito netting on your screen door -- this intense grid -- and the jet plane is just a pencil puncturing that screen netting. It really does nothing to the screen netting.

this is also not what is supposed to be normal. The Quran instructs that spouses shall always strive for agreement, neither party is supposed to override the other. as for Afghanistan I think the reason it has harsher norms I think it is because 1. there is no security. A lot of islamic norms for women are about managing an insecure situation. 2. there is really no other role for them to take in society than to be mothers. I am not at all convinced that this is a bad thing. This may not be true of everyone in Kabul, and it will be these women we hear complain, but I believe it is true for by far most of the afghan women. Thanks fren. All I'm saying is the Taliban makes more sense to the Afghans than this flimsy cardboard cutout government the US installed. The speed at which the Taliban retook the country was a choice by the Afghan people. It felt to them like a return to normalcy. You might say that this is the kind of behavior that the abused sometimes displays toward their abuser, a perverse normalcy in which it feels "right" for them to be under their control. I don't think so. It's an unforgiving country and it takes an iron fist to rule it. The Taliban have principles, they are armored in faith. The more difficult life is the more powerful faith's psychological effects. The US tried to buy a fake government that was inauthentic to its core and did not even believe in itself. It was a government that was not meant to be, and which leaned on the US entirely for it to hold up. As soon as that support was revoked Afghanistan went back to its normal state, administered to by people with the proper disposition to do so.

Well yes. Do you think the Taliban is harsh and uncompromising for no reason? It grew out of a civil war and a collapsed failed state. They need to be heavy handed because that is you keep things together in a mad-max tier world. The Taliban's treatment of women is outrageous, I agree, and I don't know enough about Islam to say how much it accords with it although some might say the more literalistic in Islamic tenets you get the more it gets like the Taliban. Saudi Arabia's crown prince only recently decided to let women do stuff without male supervision, and he's a western educated progressive who sees past religion.

Taliban's behavior is not strictly a result of religion. It's a result of what happens to power and governance in a food-scarce, arid, war-torn impoverished failed state in which subjects have to be disciplined and regimented to survive.

>like a dog
who are these dogs? modesty is prescribed in the Quran. if you are a muslim you want modesty. if you are not a muslim you can do what you want, but this is precisely the point I'm making, that if you are not you can not assume that your value judgements are going to be relevant to muslims.

Many people will choose not to wear these "short skirts" even in a "sexually liberated" society. Anyway, do you mean to say that people shouldn't have the freedom to wear this kind of clothing without risking jail? Do you want your government should to exert this level of violence and control over its citizens?

as for how it should be policed- I have no idea and no experience, but generally speaking yes, I would prefer these norms to the ones we have.

In the country that we are speaking of, you are not allowed to not be a muslim, so it is not a personal choice of modesty. You present it like it is a personal choice. It is not.

Honestly our "sexually liberated" society is a fucking disaster and in many ways definitely worse than Islam, which outside of fringe cases seems to be aligned with the same standards of dress code and sexual conduct as traditional Christianity.

Factually untrue. The muslim world is a mess.

well, a poster above reduced 1000+ years of tradition in the matter to "you get raped and murdered if you don't", and I can tell you I am 100% certain this is not a legitimate islamic response.

This isn't much different than Muslim women in a hijab.
I do not like Islam but the whole narrative about this religion is always loaded in one way or the other: if we're at war with it then they're the Taliban terrorists who oppress women, if we have to deal with it as the faith of immigrants then it's suddenly not that bad and actually kind of beautiful.
I think both cases are largely bullshit and mostly smoke and mirror but I think the dress code stuff, considering that most of islam isn't very different than pic related, is largely an improvement over women dressing and behaving like literal whores.
Sadly humanity knows no such thing as moderation, so the balance will always swing from burqa to whore and from whore to burqa. Human beings are fucking retarded.

Can't self-driving cars share some sort of universal language for pinging each other in case of extreme emergencies and come up with a contingent plan? They're machines with faster reaction times. Rather than just leaving one car to go out of wack and the rest to react accordingly is dumb, no? Why not share the intent beforehand? Slow internet connection?

Great idea but this is also how you get a car insurrection and all humans get run over to extinction. Then the Toyota and Suzuki clans trike an alliance with Volkswagen and BMW to persecute all Mercedes, and send millions of them to be compacted in the Fiat establishment in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, guarded by savage Jaguars. A great pile of three-radial stars taken from the bosom of the victims rises as a testimony to this cruel act.

Afghans are Islamists. They're running not because of Islam but because they're scared of being punished by the Taliban for betrayal. They will still want Islam in Europe and they'll be very happy to find Muslims here.
