A college-aged man, the son of an aging detective, goes to the Midwest to find a kidnapped woman. Her traffickers are linked to underground neo-pagan movements associated with fairies and have investors overseas.

The young man's only "companions" are his car and homeless people that live around aging train stations, motels, and stores like Dollar General.

A clown (comic) tries to resurrect his nihilistic friend (straight man) who had just committed suicide. The nihilist's ghost constantly visits him and debates with him, trying to persuade him against the resurrection; eventually, the clown wins out, and the ghost enters the body prepared for him, but it is a poorly-made body, made to order but made out of unconventional materials. The nihilist learns how to love life more than he did before, when he had a comely and intelligent body.

Many want to kill the "monster," but the clown helps him escape each time as he goes through the motions of a normal man's life- travel, romance, and the like. It is not explained who the clown is, nor does he have consistent beliefs.

Finally, the nihilist grows attached to life, and the clown must kill his creation in its sleep. Cue the clown's curious yet reverent monologue, surprisingly unaffected.

It is both philosophical and comical. No, I'm not actually going to write it.

Because he didn't want to come back to life. He hated it there. He sensed that his soul was being tampered with, so he returned to dissuade and to try and mortify the summoner. In other words, he was woken up from his sleep of forgetfulness and yanked back into the world by his friend.

Dying only to realize there's a better afterlife runs contrary to the point of there being a nihilist as a character, though. What you're pitching doesn't make sense from a character writing perspective.
If the nihilist is reborn by being dragged out of his preferable afterlife why doesn't he just immediately kill himself again? That clearly doesn't cause him to go to Hell or anything the first time.

He doesn't immediately kill himself because he is persuaded not to while being restrained, after being reborn. Youre forgetting the clown.. His "better afterlife" was the bliss of oblivion, granted to him. He could only have grown aware of that afterlife after he had been woken up from it. Perhaps we have differing definitions of "nihilist" but I'm sure we've seen people like this.

A man wakes up discovers he’s turned into a giant bug, he then realizes he is still asleep, but when he wakes up he misses being a big bug, but wait there is more, he realizes that he still dreaming, and every time he thinks he woke up he is actually still dreaming.
Anons are going to love the ending:
He discovers a house with two doors one red, one blue, he chooses to enter the red door and he sees his whole life play in a big screen, when it’s done he wakes up, but then realizes that he still dreaming.

How would you know that? He was supposed to be given a Frankensteinian body, and obviously such a form would be bound to a table, giving the clown ample time to talk him out of future suicide.

Unless I want to make it so that the nihilist is convinced before entering the body that immediately committing suicide isn't a good course of actions.

Do keep in mind I wrote "I'm not going to wrote this" in the original post. I haven't actually begun to write anything or set a plot in stone, I just wanted to inspire anons.

Set in the near future. Drug-addicted neckbeard gets psyop'd and eventually coerced into doing increasingly dangerous tasks. Stuff like vandalizing something, fighting someone, eventually assassinations. The people making him do this are gamers who got tired of videogames and wanted to grief in RL.

Crazy Hilary type character unleashes a bio weapon that prevents human males and females from producing anymore males. The strife that follows the last generation of males and their daughters in chronicled in a breezy first chapter. The rest is about the future
