What "your" data? That the book exists and has been published?

I'm working on a goodreads alternative where you can also actually read books on the platform: 24reads.com

Lmao, nice attitude, I bet it helps you a lot in daily life.
I'm a librarian there and, if the book hasn't been "shelved" by anyone, I can delete it without a problem.

Hey, don't judge, some people write entire books, publish them through Amazon, and make no money from all that effort either.

They tend to go in with the intent to at least make a few bucks off it, no matter how misguided. Being a librarian on goodreads is the same as a jannie on 4chan

Well, a librarian makes the site more usable, primarily for themselves if they're reading obscure stuff. I wouldn't use the site at all if I couldn't track all the books I read.
Jannies have to follow autistic rules and systematically follow boards and reports, it's actual regular work. As a librarian I don't have to do shit if I don't want, I only add what and when I feel like. I added some books that friends and anons on here asked me for.

Did not know this. And after reading a bit more on it I rescind my previous shitposts. Sounds like it's actually a decent service provided by the users for a lackluster site

Goodreads marks books it doesn't like as 'Not a Book' even when they certainly are (e.g. The Turner Diaries)
