King James is good enough and is also the most referenced in English, so it's the best for any English speaker to read. Also, it's nice to read.

The NRSV is the standard academic translation. Larpers here will recommend the KJV, but avoid it if you want to understand the Bible.

Don't just rely on one translation, compare multiple to get a better idea of the true meaning. If you really want to understand it, learn Hebrew and Greek. (Aleph with Beth is a good start for the former, and Athenaze for the latter.)

I use "Bible Study": https://f-droid.org/en/packages/net.bible.android.activity/
It is the best libre Bible app I could find, which is pretty good and gets the Jon done with a few quirks. You download the versions—it is mostly older versions, I have e.g. KJV, Lutherbibel, Vulgate, Wycliffe and a few others, but for some reason (the default repositories) don't have NIV/ESV/etc—you can easily switch between the ones you have, and there is also Strong's Heb./Greek available to enable. You can also download some jns, etc. You can search through certain books, either testament, or the whole bible with a few different search options. Other than bookmarking, those are basically all the features I use, if not more than what I regularly use.
However, I usually prefer a physical Bible.

Have you ever actually tried? It's really not that difficult. The challenge in learning any language is going from the basic grammar to the more advanced while building a significant vocabulary. yeah its actually dope as fuck

textbooks like Hansen and Quinn, which is one of the few typical Greek 101-102 books (Wheelocks for Greek, essentially), was initially made to be an intensive course (i.e. first year greek in 12 weeks).
Professors realized that students were not transitioning well from sentences in books like Hansen and Quinn to real Greek texts (typically Xenophon is the second-year text), so they tried to figure out how to teach the second-year class differently
gareth morgan decided to change how to teach first-year greek, so developed an intensive course for 10 weeks at UT Austin, in which Greek students would end up reading around 300 lines from Herodotus (Ionic dialect), 500ish lines from Lysias (Attic), the entirety of the Apology (also Attic), and usually also Medea (tragic verse, which is its own thing). This was in the 70s.
Later, the professors who taught it ended up cutting some of the reading, since reading that much greek, after learning greek so quickly, has its pros and cons, and the ideas around how to teach changed a bit, so now its generally all the herodotus, half the lysias, most of the apology, and usually oedipus rex instead of medea (medea is kinda long

as far as how to teach the actual greek, it forgoes memorization of principle parts (extremely necessary in the traditional manners), and instead teaches as bases
so instead of:
λύω, λῡ́σω, ἔλῡσᾰ, λέλῠκᾰ, λέλῠμαι, ἐλῠ́θην
(principle parts, showing the first-person, singular of the present, future, aorist, perfect, perfect middle, aorist passive)
you learn
λῠ/
since all verbal forms use a verb base
then you learn progressive aspect markers, or past time markers; you learn primary and secondary thematic endings, athematic endings, etc etc
so building each greek word from their discrete parts, as opposed to a rote-memorization method that greek classes typically use

just finished teaching a 6-week version, would be willing to run it for some anons if they want to spread it across like 3 months, we probably could
