We're trying to tell you that your actions and habits have an effect on your thoughts and attention span. When you browse and scroll 4chan or social media all day, you're constantly making your brain get addicted to that dopamine. The act of scrolling becomes instant gratification. That's why ADHD is so over diagnosed now, it's a problem with the youth becoming addicted to that kind of instant gratification.

What you can do is start breaking away from those habits and stop making shitty threads/scrolling 4chan, it doesn't have to be in an instant, just work through it. Also start exercising and having a good diet, your physical fitness is linked to the state of your mind.

Low IQ faggots who don’t know anything about the brain or human biology except from popular “science” books and shitty youtube videos. Good job, keep up the retard takes.

>>18816245
It may seem counter-intuitive, but reading books on an iPad with an app that has a read-out-loud functionality (e.g. VoiceDreamReader - unfortunately not free) may help. Obviously, disable all notifications (no banners, reminders and shit like that) while reading and put it on silent. Give it a try, see if it helps. Library Genesis may help you with finding epubs/pdfs for your books.

Also, needless to say medication is helpful for many who have ADHD. If you haven’t tried it, you might want to give it a shot.

Lastly, don’t listen to the faggots in this thread who don’t know what ADHD is and how it affects people. They cannot and will not be able to help you. The “ADHD deniers” have never helped anyone who suffers from ADHD.

ADHD is highly heritable (= differences in ADHD symptoms are mostly caused by genetic differences, **not** social, environmental or parental differences). GWAS studies (which identify the specific genes that cause a certain trait) have been successful identifying the underlying genes.
ADHD has been identified by medical professionals since the ~18/19th century (see: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4694551/?report=classic ), so no, it’s the fault of screens, porn or some other crap.

Again, you’re not helping anyone who suffers from OPs condition. I used to get mad at ignorant people like you, but (thank god) ppl like you don’t have any influence in treating patients. So it’s no biggie really.
Nonetheless, if you think you have something interesting to contribute to the science of this topic, you’re very welcome to publish your findings/theories. psyarxiv/osf.io is free for everyone, so no excuses that big pharma or evil journals won’t publish your views :)

I see what you mean. If you want to learn more about it, I recommend this article which gives you a nice overview https://adhd.gr/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/faraone2015.pdf
(however it’s already outdated in some regards, still good intro though)

There’s still discussion about the prevalence of the condition (e.g. over-diagnosis in the US, youngest kids in a class more likely to erroneously get a ADHD diagnosis because they are less mature/more active, differences in prevalence between ethnicities, rising rates of diagnoses, etc.)

So
OP
I have literally the best "life hack" for you.
I have ADHD and epilepsy. And reading is very difficult for me. I'll spare you my life story, but essentially I went 26 years and only read 3 books including the Bible and a book for a date. But then I found a subject I was very passionate about and it drove me to read despite how difficult it is for me.

Luckily, I found a way to cheat the system.

Surely you know about Library Genesis and all the sites to get free digital books, right?

Well, you can use a text to speech plug in, or just use the one in Microsoft Edge which is pretty good, and you can turn all those free digital books into free audiobooks. The voice isn't always as good as a professional reader, but it's definitely good enough.

Clueless. I read every day. Reading is an escape for me. despite caring very much about reading and directing my full attention towards it, I have moments where I have to read the same sentence 10 times in a row to focus on it.

It has nothing to do with discipline. There are over 50 chemicals the brain uses to transfer information. Some of these chemicals are not released and reloaded effectively.

This is a matter of Neuroanatomy.

This is NOT a matter of psychology.
