why the fuck do faggots write like this
>I spent my time living near ...
>... with War and Peace in my possession ..
>... I had made an impressionable dent ...
> ... grabbed my attention
> ... the paperback tome
> ... returned the libram
> ... the outcome of transpired events reached me
>... War and Peace contained neither white powder or contraband
Fucking hell, it sounds like early RC Waldun. Probably another ESL trying to flex his English skills, but any descent writer could have just written
>I spent a short period of time in Verona, Italy, and made my way through a good chunk of War and Peace while I was there. On my way home, I was randomly stopped by airport security and searched; I guess they thought that because the book was so big, I must have been smuggling drugs or something.
It's not even a good story either, there's no punchline

It took me about ten days to read up to Prince Andrei's final scene, and several months to finish the rest.

A couple of weeks at most. Like a lot of the other great Russian novels, you can breeze through it without time for pause. The events flow well and the language isn't convoluted. The end veers into politics and philosophy but it doesn't feel out of place and it brings together the rest of the book nicely.

Anons, who was your favorite character?
Prince Andrei for me.

I would've written that paragraph like this,
>I read a chunk of War and Peace during my time in Verona, Italy. It's a huge tome, so much that on my way back, the airport attendants wanted to inspect it to check if I had stuffed drugs or explosives in it.

>> No.18815930

i think it took me about 2.5 months but im not the best reader and i probably should have taken it even slower

>> No.18816116

>>18815912
You don't need that comma after "huge tome".
Here's how I would have written it:
>This one time I brought War and Peace with me to the airport for some 'light reading' during the flight. It's so big that when the bag I kept it in was being scanned by security they got suspicious and asked to search it. Apparently they couldn't believe a book could be so big; they assumed that it was hollow to smuggle contraband. The entire time it was being searched my asshole was clenched tighter than a fist from both nerves and an attempt to stop the drugs slipping out from where I had actually kept them
