What the fuck is this shit?

>> No.18761369

I also saw something similar in a local bookshop. A little plaque much like this one that said something about "Recommended on tiktok".

If it gets younger people reading again then great, but is this one specific person reviewing books on tiktok who is famous enough not to need mentioned? Because if its like saying "As seen on youtube" then it's very very stupid.

>> No.18761382

its similar to one of those like and share posts, but for the new social media site, try to keep up

I assume this picture was taken in a bookstore, and one of the staff wrote this.

If so, then Booktok is the section of Tik Tok that talks about and recommends books. The hash-mark refers to Twitter, so #Booktok is the tag used on Twitter to talk about this book-oriented section of Tiktok.

Many bookstores have their staff members group books according to quirky or personally-revealing categories to give the shelf arrangements some flavor. In this case, some staff member has decided to group some books together on a shelf that they decided to read because they saw some clips on Tik Tok recommending them.

I hope this helps, anon!

Is TikTok going to be 4chan's next nemesis? Right now our current nemesis is Twitter, but it feels like Twitter is on the verge of destroying itself. Which wouldn't be so surprising, 4chan's enemies have a tendency to self-destruct. I mean, that's what happened to SomethingAwful and Gaia and Tumblr and Reddit.

>> No.18766414

>>18766393
4chan has no “nemesis” like reddit or Gaia in the days of old because the internet doesn’t work like that anymore. There are only like 7 websites/apps that are barely different from each other and all anyone does on them is talk about what is happening on the other websites/apps. At this point 4chan is basically culturally downstream from Twitter and tiktok, go to a shitty fast board like /pol/ or /tv/ and you’ll see what I mean.

>> No.18766421

Cant find the exact one but heres something of that flavor in the meanwhile.
"Neither for music, nor for poetry, nor for fine art, have they really and truly any sense or susceptibility; it is a mere mockery if they make a pretence of it in order to assist their endeavor to please. Hence, as a result of this, they are incapable of taking a purely objective interest in anything; and the reason of it seems to me to be as follows. A man tries to acquire direct mastery over things, either by understanding them, or by forcing them to do his will. But a woman is always and everywhere reduced to obtaining this mastery indirectly, namely, through a man; and whatever direct mastery she may have is entirely confined to him. And so it lies in woman's nature to look upon everything only as a means for conquering man; and if she takes an interest in anything else it is simulated—a mere roundabout way of gaining her ends by coquetry, and feigning what she does not feel. Hence, even Rousseau declared: Women have, in general, no love for any art; they have no proper knowledge of any; and they have no genius.

No one who sees at all below the surface can have failed to remark the same thing. You need only observe the kind of attention women bestow upon a concert, an opera, or a play—the childish simplicity, for example, with which they keep on chattering during the finest passages in the greatest masterpieces. If it is true that the Greeks excluded women from their theatres they were quite right in what they did; at any rate you would have been able to hear what was said upon the stage."
