I never watched the movie, I heard the swedish one is better. I will watch them both after I finish the book. I heard the movie is better than the book and I find it hard to believe, the book is amazing and I think a movie will fail to include all scenes and feels.

I remember reading another one of his novels in high school. It was called "Handling the Undead" and is about the unexplained reanimation of several thousands of recently deceased people; like the set up for a zombie outbreak, but without a zombie virus or the aggressive flesh/brain-eating associated with the trope. I remember the focus being on the relatives of the reanimated, like the grandfather of a young boy who died in a fall, a girl whose grandmother 'returns', and the response of the swedish authorities, but it's been 10 years so I doubt I'm painting an accurate picture. It was a strangely fresh take in it's mundaneness.
