I can not read anything that was writen past 1900 without feeling melancholic.
Compared to the writings before 1900, everything is gay, devoid of any meaning or just cringe.
Just reading how people thought, talked, behaved and dressed and comparing it to now, hurts both my brain and my soul.

I actually like the writings from around 1900-14 much better than some of the more bland shit coming out of the mid 19th century. You should see out more books written from before WWI, it gives great insight into a what-if of history
