I feel like doing some lighter reading. Are Poe's short stories comfy? Never read his works before

The best way to do loght reading is to read heavy stuff you don't get but still enjoy. Pick up a copy of trout fishing in america and get yourself a glass of beer or whiskey or whatever you drink and sit your ass down beside a river in the sun and read.

wouldn't describe them as comfy lol, but many of Poe's stories could be enjoyed by both children and esotericists, so depending on what you mean by "lighter reading" he might fit the bill. If you've never read Poe, maybe start with The Tell-Tale Heart, The Black Cat, or Fall in the House of Usher. Poe's best short story is Ligeia, so you can check that one out too if you're feeling it. The first author that comes to mind for comfy, light reading is Dickens.

Don't read his meme shit, if you want comfy read proto-Sherlock Holmes aka Murders in the Rue de Morgue etc.

I like The Devil in the Belfry. I imagined it like a Dr Seuss story :D

Poe's spooky tales are like stories told in and Manor House by a roaring fireplace. He's great and his stories are comfy
