Honestly, no. I read in Russian translation - wasted my time.
The company goes -> Werewolf (changeling - Gui, i mean) / Demons Cave -> Oh no The Monk kidnapped -> demons want to eat him, and their wives want to rape (and eat) -> The monkey rushes to the rescue -> failure -> a pig somewhere is drinking and eating -> Monkey comes up with a trick with a magic staff No. 304284932 -> he beats devils -> The useless monk rescued again -> The company goes to the next cave with werewolves....
This is actually 2/3 of the book. This is like an endless Indian TV series where for 150 episodes each time they find a new lost relative and dance with elephants. It is impossible for us to look, but for the Hindus - just right.
Better to read the real notes of Xuanzang or Fa-Hsien about the journey to India.
