I feel very bad for giving a negative review, but this was pretty bad. I don't want to knock an aspiring writer but I also don't want to give false hope.

The editing was really poor, the dialogue between characters was cringey, the internal monologue was embarrassing, and just where was the story going?
What made me give up at 33 pages in was that I found myself taking a break after every chapter - and the chapters aren't even long! The book is only 130 pages; I can usually breeze through that in a few hours. But the writing was really tough to slog through.

One main sticking point for me was the constant interjection of philosophical and religious ideas. It wasn't that they were in the book, but it was strange to have the author explain each one. You've gotta assume your readers know what Occams Razor is - explaining it to the reader is very distracting. Same with Leviathan and the other concepts the author shoehorns in the story.

>>18734078Poorly written unfortunately. Interesting concept but the writing is very amateurish. Changes tense from past to present within the same sentence. Characters are like cardboard cutouts that speak in cliches. Constant references to so many books and poems out of nowhere.

Sorry to the author but this is really awful. Best to try just a simple story without all the over the top quotes and philosophical stuff. It comes off as trying to be deeper than it is. Hopefully the author can work on creating realistic characters who's speech comes across naturally too. I wish the author luck.

The plot is a series of cliches and awkward references to famous books. Dialogue sounds robotic, characters don’t distinguish themselves from one another.
I’d like to be a little more gentle, but the writer has put more effort into advertising his book than writing it. Considering this, and the obviousness of the errors, I don’t think he’ll be too surprised to hear his writing comes off as insultingly careless.
