Is it worth writing fiction any more? It seems like the only people reading are YA zoomers and housewives. I've been to writing workshops and have never met another guy there who I could stand for 2 minutes. I know writing and art is a personal, self-fulfilling activity, but what if the only people out there reading your books are just a bunch of faggots?

This. Modernity was the age of the book. Post-modernity is the age of the orator. The purpose of a book was to inform, but the masses don't want information, they want confirmation. They want something that resonates with their small minds. I've taken notes from Togashi's seminal work "Hunter x Hunter" and have included several homoerotic themes in my work along with a quartet of handsome bachelor protagonists. I'm hoping that this white woman dogwhistle will earn me the readership I require to finally climb my way out of the pit of ignoble nobodies. good question. very few people of any age actually read actual books for recreation anymore. I would be interested what the actual stats are, but I am guessing it has declined at least 80% from pre internet days. book sales may be high, but 90% of books sold are never read.
