I read this.
It wasn't very good. Borges was a little too impressed with his own fancy for my taste.

Chesterton is a superior author.

Filtered hard, even Borges acknowledged it was his best work.

I agree, anon. Borges is a sociopath. He doesn't give a fuck about people. His stories are just about things and ideas. I heard the guy didn't even have kids despite his success.

>>18678010
WTF, bro? Borges' stories are shit-tier fiction. It's Twilight Zone/Black Mirror style bullshit sugar coated in oriental magical realism. What's wrong with you?

>Borges is a sociopath. He doesn't give a fuck about people.
Demonstrably false.
>Borges' stories are shit-tier fiction. It's Twilight Zone/Black Mirror style bullshit sugar coated in oriental magical realism.
Borges predates all that nonsense, nigger. We live in a post-dickian, post-borgesian world.

Cringe. It's easily one of the best.

People filtered by Borges in general are even worse. I didn't know it was possible.

>> No.18679563

I've been spending all this year reading heavily into short stories and I did not enjoy Borges at all.

I expected great things because of his reputation but his stories did nothing for me. They all just felt like neat, little thought experiments that are pretty interesting, but that I felt I have been exposed to multiple times in subtle ways by the generations of science fiction that have come after him.

And all his stories don't feel all that different from one another. Yes, they all have vastly different subjects, but that wound you get, for the lack of a better term to describe that feeling you get when you read something great, feels the same across all his stories.

Why did you dislike it? I thought it was neat. The idea of reading books as if they were by a different author was cool
