Im scared bros. What if they break our will?

>> No.18644536

Who is they? Luckily no power on earth today is as evil as the one in 1984, I think there's no need to worry about a dystopian future like that anymore, humanity can't stoop that low

the scariest thing about 1984 is that once ingsoc is established it's literally impossible to rectify, humanity is just doomed forever

This book honestly isn't prescient at all, it's dystopic vision is ironically too bleak to be compelling.

I always wondered why they, as in the globohomo, want to go down this route.
A large reason behind their success was their catering to the bread and circus, by allowing the middle class to flourish. Doing that would fly directly in the face of all their work and put them in great jeopardy of collapse.

Yes. Huxley's is more sustainable to operate, but needs the surveillance and often brute force of Orwell, due to inefficiencies with the system in place.

What, do you think what's happing now is sustainable? Or even what they have planned is sustainable?
No. And that's what's infuriating about these people, is that they have the capacity to do tremendous things with the wealth and technology they posses, but would rather literally run the human race into the ground and doom it to either eternal mediocrity or outright extinction if it means that they have the ability to maintain that little bit extra power

Orwell is a shit writer, his language is riddled with cliches and people who read 1984 and think it’s in any way reflective of the current system deserve to be lobotomised. It might’ve been relevant 50+ years ago but that’s no longer the case.

It’s because they lived in a society that tried to keep girls living like perpetual chaste virgins until they inevitably got a loveless marriage to create kids to be indoctrinated (like Winston’s neighbour and also his own failed marriage).
It’s because she could rebel against the conditioning that he celebrated it - sexuality, sensuality, lust, even aggressive passion - all things lost in life’s love and diverted into the two minute hates and obsessive after work clubs, etc.
Context.

Ah, the de facto worm-brained response against Orwell. It’s not about the regime of BB and the secret police etc., but the way language, thought, expression and an independent sense of history are being undermined and contrived to remove the need for the monitoring and the propaganda.
I read Postman’s “Amusing ourselves to Death”, which claimed to demonstrate how Brave New World is more in keeping with the actual West, and while there could be elements of it like the obsession with entertainment, it’s ultimately rooted in a misreading of Orwell’s main point. BNW and 1984 are not contradictory - Mustapha Mond’s dialogue with John and O’Brien’s with Winston are saying the same thing about language about the past - only through God and Shakespeare for John and language and liberty for Winston - both meaning the same thing.
Only retards can’t see that Orwell was just as, if not more right than Huxley.

Decentralization is really important to destabilizing the regime and robbing it of essential power. (i.e the proliferation of guns through 3D printing is the ender of the gun debate)

But centralization is more or less required in order to effectively replace it with something better. I think secession is more or less a cope.

How do we reconcile this?
