The Lord of the Rings.
Tolkien is a kind of litmus test for me, people who shit on him are most likely individuals who dream of inserting, or have already inserted, foreign objects deep into their anal cavity for the purpose of slowly ruining their outer sphincter. I actually like The Hobbit the best as well. To be honest, of all the Middle Earth writing I think I like the Lord of the Rings the least. It's still good, but I think knowing about the movies beforehand kind of dampened my experience.
