I thought it was extremely bland, though that could be the fault of the translation.

yeah, at moments it read a bit clunky and weird, but I imagined how it was written originally (learned Italian for 4 years in high school and can speak it a bit) and then it made much more sense.

The book is great, it is everything I wanted Kafka's Castle to be. I'm so enamoured by it that I watched that old film adaptation the instant I've finished the book. I've read a ton of good books since the pandemic started, but this must be one of the best.

Why the fuck are there no other translations into English for his work? I found an epub for endless or restless nights but I'm yearning for more!

The (lack of a concrete) plot, the atmosphere, the sense of the absurd which it conveys, the heartbreaking ending,

It's subjective, I know, but I thought I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Not bad. They changed some things and the dubbing was annoying af, but the cinematography is great and it has Jean-Louis Trintignant in one of the supporting roles, which was a pleasant surprise.

Well , I also found that love affair one but I'm still surprised as to why he hasn't be translated.

Buzzati has some other stuff, too. there's a collection of short stories called "catastrophe". read it.
