Hey, /lit/

Any thoughts on American Gods? My girlfriend and I usually read books together, with each of us taking turns on picking one. She brought this up, and after reading the description it doesn't seem very interesting.

What's it like? I really enjoy fantasy and sci fi, which is what this is labeled, but it doesn't sound very fantasy or sci-fi from the description.

Got it lying around somewhere, never bothered to even start reading it, though. Would also like to know if good.

It's a'ight. You can do a lot worse.

American Gods is an extremely enjoyable read. It's very much an urban fantasy, but I wouldn't call it sci-fi.
Some might suggest reading a similar novel by Gaiman "Anansi Boys", which is considered to have done the same thing but better.

I just finished it on my kindle a few days ago. I really enjoyed it. I would suggest it.

A lot of people on /lit/ will be butthurt and talk shit on Gaiman and in particular, this book. I however really enjoyed it. I read it about a year ago.

This. AG was my first Gaiman experience and I'm glad it was. I think I hit the gold before the average stuff.
