Is there any philosophy books that are good as audiobooks? I want to cover ground as I drive and do chores.

I tried to get through pic related just by listening, because I'm pretty good at picking up on things that way, even really complex stuff, but I have to say I didn't understand anything and it was painful to listen too.

>reading philosophy
>not writing detailed notes

No that's just about the worst topic possible to learn from audiobooks lol. I once tried listening to an audiobook of Leviathan and it was far more difficult than just reading it. My advice is that you're better off ever-enriching a few texts which work as audiobooks with repeat listens than you are trying to do philosophy. If you're actually paying for Audible just get the Homeric epics or something similar and listen to parts randomly.

The Republic
You will want to go back and take notes
But you will enjoy the audiobook experience more than most audiobooks.

I do listen to philosophy audiobooks but never as an introduction. I'll throw on a chapter I've read before as a refresher while I jog, usually something pertinent to my current studies.

Most of these books are just too information dense. If you really want an auditory introduction, try a lecture or podcast.

No, but almost all other non fiction is awesome as an audio book. History, science, political theory, sociology, self help, etc. all of them feel like I’m in college again listening to lectures. When it comes to philosophy, the closest thing Audible has is the great courses on philosophy which are secondary sources but pretty decent introductions to various topics.

I keep primary texts and fiction for actual reading.

Might is Right

Yeah, even Hegel is fine you just might need more exposure to his terms first.

Ovid's Metamorphoses narrated by Charlton Griffen is good on audio. Works well as a semi-epic that is episodic.

Might give Plutarch's Parallel Lives on audio a go then.
