Started reading. Says it's not clear you can simply improve on human type cognitive ability simply because it's multidimensional and might need to be finely balanced instead of a unidimensional general intellectual efficacy, and Bostrom equivocates between the two notions of intelligence. The latter is fair point against Bostrom but he actually doesn't say why these properties might be a real hindrance to self improvement, as if there's some law of nature capping intelligence at the human level.
