I like art/creativity, and most other forms of popular media require passive observation, whereas I like the engagement required by books, particularly complex ones. Also, frankly, I like to feel like I have a decent awareness of culture and history, and reading good books is the best way I’ve found to be informed.

I enjoy it. I like absorbing and digesting the different ideas, emotions, and historical elements that authors put into their stories. From a practical standpoint, I find that regularly reading makes it easier to express myself and helps fight off and reverse the brain rot that too much mindless media and time on the internet can cause.
