Reading too much is not correctly stating what he means. What he’s talking about is people who read things and just subsume those ideas and conclusions into their own way of thinking as though they were facts. Anyone can do this no matter how much or little they read, but midwits don’t really have the understanding to take ideas from
books and then produce their own unique thoughts on them. They’re too caught up in the false superiority created by just regurgitating a famous intellectuals opinions as if they were their own.

Back in high school kids would be bullshitting as they do and ask pseudo deep questions. I would pull out my phone, google the question, and then tell them the answer. This somehow managed to impress a lot of people. They thought I was something of a scholar
