Why is there a rougher tone on this forum than om /mu/? I would have thought it otherwise.

i dunno i prefer /mu/ to here because here there are less posters, A LOT LESS, so it seems very abrasive and that everyone is constantly angry with one another.

Literature is less accessible than music, and it takes at least an illusion of intelligence to be a regular /lit/ poster.

Some muh'fuckas think they hot shit, so they won't hesitate to look down on people, poetry, novels, ideologies, philosophers, etc.

The board basically consists of /r9k/ and /mu/ wash ups. The board is slow enough for tripfags to get the attention they so desperately need and the general population is stupid and immature enough to fall for it.

I don't care if you're a bad reader or don't understand literary theory but it says something about this board when someone can make a thread called "why don't you have a girlfriend" on a literature board and get 200 replies.

There are some people who want to discuss literature but instead we just get uninspired trolls and teen virgins from /r9k/ who don't actually read but are not against the idea of reading.

You'd think that we'd at least get some inspired trolling, instead we get shitheads like brownholes and his gang of homo tripfags that congregate on /litclub and guys like D&E who at times might display some wit but instead just have no life and spend all their days posting on /lit/.

It's fucking sad.

/lit/ can be amiable enough so long as you respect the things we largely enjoy and don't make pointless threads.

I've actually seen a fairly accepting atmosphere out of /lit/, particularly in regards to threads that aren't necessarily about literature. Any kind of higher-end conversation seems to be allowed here.

The reason I think /lit/ may seem abrasive at times is because it's a lot harder to produce literature we can tolerate than music /mu/ can tolerate. On the average /mu/ sharethread, even the most banal and uninteresting music won't really get bashed aside from a troll or two, it'll be ignored. On /lit/ when someone tries to introduce a writer we're not already aware of (or god forbid their own shitty first-draft writing), there's much less of a chance that it'll have any substance to it, because literature doesn't have a lot of grey area between classics and steaming horseshit.
