I did, but over time I realized that I was writing for all the wrong reasons. A real write writes for sheer love for the act, not as part of a competitive pissing contest. Any envy you feel will likely dilute that honest, unattended part of you that has the potentially create art that is true to you.

no. and i am an envious person. or at least was. but i read so much amateur shit that was depressingly bad that i honestly lost all hope and it drained the life out of me. good writing lifts my spirits. if i envy a writers writing, its always a good feeling. and i can barely enjoy my own writing anyways since im writing it so id rather be the worst writer out of a sea of good writers
