Is giving up weed for good a prerequisite to being a serious and good /lit/ academic/student/writer? I want to be among the best in my class. Have been a stoner for years with periodic breaks here and there.

I habe a friend who manages to smoke pretty reguarly (read: most evenings), but manages to be a good philosophy student.
Though generally, I'd advise against it, but the same way as being an alcoholic wouldn't do most peoples a favor in being academically learned.
