kek, as an art history autist and a russian, this always bothered me, why is the penguin classics cover for demons a portrait of alexandre benois? it's just so random. he was an artist from the diaghilev clique, kind of an annoying bitch too if you know his biography. he was active wayyy after demons' publication. knowing this fact always distracts me.

When does the context of the cover images chosen for classics by any company make sense? They're picked for aesthetics and I'd say Penguins choice for Demons is quite appropriate
