What kind of music do you guys listen to? Might actually be nice to have some civil music sharing in the background while we browse /lit/.

When I read, I usually don't listen to music. Too distracting for me. Other than that, I play in an Americana band so that's a lot of what I listen to . I also enjoy some intelligent rap (Lowkey, 3/5 Human, Immortal Technique), classical (whatever's on the radio), jazz (Coltrane, Davis), and a lot of "indie" (Wild Moccasins, Ani DiFranco, some Iron & Wine, Architecture in Helsinki, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Johnny Flynn, Nick Drake, Ratatat, The Unthanks, Wolf Parade, A.C. Newman, and Sufjan Stevens). Nothing terribly out of the ordinary or groundbreaking, but I enjoy it.
Pic is Hello Saferide, the twee-est voice I have ever heard and any amazing musician.

I probably like what everyone here hates. I love pop music. And I'm afraid I can't even be one of those people who go "I love pop but only the good pop" and then proceed to list a dozen artists with under 100k listeners on Last.fm like Voicst or The Murmurs or Lucy Schwartz. Or those who absolutely love pop - as long as it was made before they were born. Nah, I like the big name stuff too - Madonna, Kylie, JLo, Mariah, etc.

I mean that's not all I like but it's what I listen to most often because it's usually so catchy and obvious. Of late, my favorite non-pop band would probably be Alvik.

I mostly listen to pretty female voices overall.

I've been meaning to check out a bit of shoegaze but haven't really had the time to sit down properly and listen. Thanks for reminding me though....still haven't gotten around to Alcest....
